Post and panel signs

Simple freestanding signage for schools, car parks, industrial estates and site entrances. The most cost effective way to put information where there is no building to fix to. See our guide for more detail.

Where there is nothing to fix to

Post and panel is the workhorse of external signage: a printed or fabricated panel between two posts, set into the ground. It suits school entrances, car park regulations, estate maps, site rules and anywhere the message matters more than the object.

It is also the easiest external sign to specify badly. Panels on softwood posts and paper faced board will not last a year. Aluminium panels on galvanised or treated posts will outlast most of the signage on the building.

Before you order

Anything set into the ground needs a service search first, and panels in exposed positions need wind loading considered rather than assumed. A large panel on two slim posts in an open car park is the most common failure we are called out to replace.

What we need to quote

  • Position, ideally marked on a site plan
  • Panel size and what has to fit on it
  • Ground surface at the position: grass, tarmac or hardstanding
  • Whether the position is exposed
  • Artwork or the text to be set
