Signage maintenance and aftercare

Planned inspections, reactive repairs, refacing and compliance checks across single sites and managed portfolios, including signage we did not manufacture.

Signage is an asset, not a purchase

An illuminated sign is a fixed electrical installation with an ongoing obligation attached. A half lit fascia does more damage to a business than no sign at all, and faded statutory signage will be picked up at inspection.

For a single site that usually means a call when something fails. For a portfolio it works far better as a scheduled arrangement: one inspection round with a condition report, a standardised specification so panels are interchangeable, and reactive cover for damage in between.

Why the first visit is often diagnosis

LED drivers fail long before the LEDs do, and a driver that has failed once tends to take others with it as they age. Where we hold the original specification on file a replacement is a same visit fix. Where we do not, and particularly on signage made by somebody else, the first visit is usually establishing what is in there.

What aftercare covers

Scheduled inspection

A round across your sites with a written condition report and a prioritised list of what needs attention.

Illumination faults

LED, driver, transformer and isolator faults, diagnosed and replaced.

Refacing

New faces or panels into existing trays and cases after a rebrand, reusing the housing.

Cleaning

Fascia and totem cleaning, particularly on roadside, coastal and high pollution positions.

Reactive repairs

Damage and vandalism made good, usually within the week.

Compliance checks

Statutory and escape signage reviewed for condition, position and photoluminescent performance.

Third party signage

We maintain signage manufactured elsewhere, subject to establishing the specification first.

Common questions

Do you maintain signs you did not make?

Yes. The first visit is usually establishing what is inside the housing, after which repairs are straightforward.

Why has my illuminated sign gone half lit?

Almost always the LED driver rather than the LEDs. A driver that has failed once will often take others with it as they age, so it is worth checking the others at the same time.

Can you look after signage across multiple sites?

Yes. Scheduled inspection with a condition report, plus reactive cover for damage, handled on one account rather than site by site.

Is it cheaper to reface or replace a sign?

Refacing reuses the tray, the fixings and the electrics, so where the housing is sound it is a fraction of the cost of a new sign. We will tell you honestly which applies.

Something not working, or a portfolio to look after?

Send a photograph and the address for a fault, or tell us how many sites for a scheduled arrangement.
