Site safety and statutory signage

CDM notices, PPE requirements, site rules, hazard warnings and entrance boards, supplied as a coordinated set before the first inspection rather than piecemeal. See our guide for more detail.

Right before the first inspection

Site safety signage is a compliance requirement with a deadline: it has to be correct and in position before the site is inspected, which usually means before anybody has time to think about it.

Buying it as one set from one supplier means the entrance board, the PPE requirements, the hazard warnings and the site rules all arrive together, in one material family, sized for the positions they actually go in.

Before you order

Site signage takes a beating. Correx and paper faced board will not survive a winter on an exposed hoarding line, and faded or damaged safety signage is worse than none because it reads as unmanaged. Aluminium composite costs marginally more and lasts the programme.

Common questions

What signage must a construction site display?

An entrance board identifying the principal contractor, project and emergency contacts, PPE requirements at every access point, hazard warnings for site specific risks, site rules, and pedestrian and traffic routing.

What material should site safety signs be?

Aluminium composite for anything expected to last the programme. Correx suits short duration only and will not survive a winter on an exposed hoarding line.

Why does faded safety signage matter?

Because faded or damaged safety signage is worse than none: it reads as an unmanaged site and will be picked up at inspection.
